I didn't think this book was spectacular, but I certainly liked it. I didn't feel like a whole lot happened until the closet scene, but that was the point really. She was just sort of going through the motions, feeling her way through art and silence. When she finally opens up it seems to backfire, but the bathroom scene redeems. Anderson uses present tense, which I love a whole lot. It makes sense for this book since the big issue happened before we are let into Melinda's life. Overall this was a moving read. Hopefully it helps young girls through their own ordeals.
