I'm A Book Shark

Freelance copyeditor to all amazing self-published and independent authors. Check out my editing page for more information. <3 Mickey is the blogger behind I’m A Book Shark. She really wishes there was a better explanation for why she’s a book shark. A new twitter name was needed, and it had to be about her favorite hobby: reading! For whatever reason, sharks also came to mind, and a book shark was born. Besides reading, Mickey is a natural reddish-headed, late-twenties, tattooed, entertainment-of-all-kinds lover, wife of husband, mother of reptiles (and a cat and two puppies, all spoiled), student, employee, boss, and (mostly) raw vegan. Oh yeah, and she likes to blog. www.imabookshark.com

At first, I thought for sure this was going to be a rip-off of something else. But I turned out to be pleasantly surprised by this one. The story is a bit different, and I can't explain why because it's part of the big secret of this novel. It's all sci-fi, though, and I've been on a kick lately.

Unfortunately, the audio book version is a tad dreadful. The narrator has almost zero emotion. I was hoping there would end up being a reason for that. If there was, I totally missed it. But I don't think there was a need for that. She did a good job with male voices, and I still liked the story. I just couldn't believe the lack of emotion in her voice!

I did get really invested in the characters though. The countdown was a good idea, but it happened so often that I got a little annoyed by it. Over all, I enjoyed this one enough. It's an interesting story that kept me guessing until the end.
